April 20th - 26th, 2026
On Friday, I hosted a New Moon ceremony with three of my good friends at my home.
We moved, danced, lit a fire, let go, and invited Mama Cacao to support our becoming. As it grew dark and we were huddled in our blankets around the fire, I felt compelled to ask the question, “How will you use your voices this week?”
As I sat this morning, waiting for the question to arrive on the current of the Universe for this week’s reading, I remembered that question. Hmmm, is that the question for the week?
Nope. So I continued to sit. After a while, I shifted and the question for this week’s reading came through easily and immediately:
What do we need to be on the look-out for this week?
And, naturally, the follow-up question to that came through (because we don’t want to be left hanging when that thing comes!):
How do we handle it when it comes?
You'll be faced with a choice this week. Will you use your voice to speak authentically, from truth and love, or will you allow your ego, patterns, or societal pressures to speak through you instead?
The Black Egg was drawn in answer to the first question, and I immediately knew why I felt compelled on Friday to ask “How will you use your voices this week?”
How will you choose to use your voice this week?
The Black Egg represents the fifth chakra, our voices. This week you will have a moment (maybe more than one) where you will have a choice: Do you stand in your authenticity and your power and use your voice, or do you capitulate to peer pressure, old patterns, and mute your authenticity once again?
Make no mistake. This choice, even if it seems small in the moment, has a big impact on your immediate and intermediate future.
You will feel this choice reverberating through your personal world for a long time. If you choose to mute your authentic, divine voice, you of course will have the opportunity to make a different choice again in the future, but this week carries an energy of rebirth and abundance that makes it a prime time to stand in your authenticity and power. When you can make that choice to stand in authenticity, you will reap immediate benefits. If you don’t, you will reap immediate consequences that will take time and more effort to dig yourself out of in the future.
So, how do you handle it when that moment comes this week?
Elk offers his supportive, powerful, grounded, and gentle spirit to help guide you this week. Root firmly to the earth consistently every day this week, grounding into your body—your heart center. Practice standing in your power, leaning on Elk and the Earth as you gain your footing here. Notice the fire around the Elk’s antlers and the Sun in the card. The fire element is also here to support you and light an energetic fire under your ass to stand firmly in your authenticity—in your divine power.
The fire also represents our solar plexus chakra—the seat of our internal sun and power center. It is the companion chakra to our throat chakra.
But remember: You can stand firmly in your authenticity, aligned to your divine power, and still be gentle and kind. True power, divine power, is not controlling, rude, or mean-spirited. It is pure, unconditional Love. Sometimes that power can feel abrupt or even harsh to the one on the receiving end, but that does not mean the power is unkind.
Supporting Practices:
Tree Pose: This yoga pose will help you root into the Earth, find your balance and your center, and become more connected to your Power. (Use your judgment if this pose is right for you and your body’s capabilities).
Start standing on a firm surface, preferably with bare feet, with feet about hip distance apart (Find a stance that is comfortable for your body. You are essentially starting in Mountain Pose.).
Imagine that you are growing roots down into the earth through the soles of your feet, grounding deep into the support of the earth.
Find a focus point in front of you that is not moving and hold your gaze there.
Slowly, start to shift your weight into your right foot, imagining that the earth is rising up to support and hold your right leg solid.
Gently contract your right leg’s muscles and glutes, engage your core, and bring your left heel to the inside of your right calf with the ball of your left foot lightly touching the ground.
Shift your hands to “grow branches” at any angle that helps you find your balance.
If you want to go deeper into this pose, bring the sole of your left foot onto the inside of your right calf or thigh (do not place it over the knee joint).
You can use a wall or chair on your right side to help you find your balance.
Breathe deeply in and out of your nose, drawing your breath down into your belly. Hold for a minute or two.
Release the pose, shake it out, then repeat steps 1-9 on the left leg.

Practice using your voice with yourself, such as through singing at the top of your lungs or using a powerful voice to state a mantra that resonates with you.
You can always use powerful statements to remind you and your body that you are divine, powerful, authentic, and aligned with your soul. Perhaps try the following statements while you are looking in a mirror, or while you are driving to work or errands.
“I am a divine being. I am powerful and powerfully aligned. I use my voice to speak authentically and with love.”
