I Can Do Hard Things

I Can Do Hard Things

The last two to three months have been a whirlwind of growth and expanding outside of my comfort zones. This has been an incredible journey for me which has moved so quickly. I’ve been excited, terrified, and filled with joy.

Your growth zone is different than your comfort zone

Here’s what I’ve been expanding into:

  • Started singing karaoke (yikes!)
  • Enrolled in a coaching certification program with Wisdom of the Whole
  • Changed my career
  • Had really tough conversations with my husband about my dreams and desires
  • Became an entrepreneur
  • Redesigned my blog website into a business website
  • Learned how to take payments & invoice clients, setting it up on my website
  • Launched my new holistic coaching business on March 31st!!!
  • Started an elimination diet to reduce inflammation in my body
  • Started making jewelry with a friend to sell at various venues as a side hustle
  • Planning a booth at a local farmer’s market for the summer with my husband
  • Started seeds for the most ambitious garden we’ve had in recent years
  • Started making homemade skin care products with the intent to sell as a side hustle

Whew! For someone with long covid who has to pace her activities to avoid being laid out for days with intense fatigue and vertigo, that is a lot! And yet, it has filled me with an unexpected amount of joy and peace.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

I can do hard things. I can do scary things!

Courage and growth are my true core values and what I am living by and infusing into everything I do.

Courage to Grow Beyond the Status Quo

Website design is not easy for me, and working behind the scenes to make this website look halfway decent is not intuitive and is very frustrating at times. I’m looking forward to the day when I have it in my budget to hire a pro!

There is A LOT that goes into setting up a business. Even one as simple as mine, where I don’t have a physical storefront or employees is complicated. Hats off to anyone reading this who has started their own business at any time in their lives!

Legal stuff. So much legal stuff in starting a business, having a website, and accepting payments online! Thank Goddess there are free resources to help a brand new (very) small business owner out.

It is hard to do an elimination diet! In some aspects, it’s been easier than I thought it would be, but oh, do I miss coffee, alcohol, and cheese! I’ll be sure to write another blog post about how the elimination diet went once I’m through it all.

I am living my purpose, my joy. I am more connected to myself, the earth, my husband, and humanity than I have ever been. I have reached a level of true connection and compassion that continues to inspire me to grow. And this has given me a level of energy I never thought possible with long covid.

What’s Next?

Celebrate

I am celebrating! So often, we get so wrapped up in the growth and the journey, that we forget to celebrate the miles we’ve already traveled. I refuse to not mark my progress and incredible growth.

  • Continue to receive coaching to help maintain my accountability and progress.
  • Keep up with therapy to continue processing past emotions and patterns that I’m prone to still fall into (anyone else struggle with perfectionism?).
  • Allow my body rest when it tells me it needs it, rather than pushing through it (old pattern).
  • Create things that fill my own cup: paintings/drawings, jewelry, skin care products, blog posts, and more.
  • Connect with the land through gardening and time outside, in nature.
  • Continue working out, lifting weights, to increase my strength and resilience to sitting at a desk more often again.
  • Keep learning and trying new things, through experiences, webinars, events, and my own curiosity.

How Can You Do Hard Things?

Jumping off a cliff

I jumped into this part of my journey like jumping off a cliff not knowing how deep the water is below but just trusting it was deep enough. It was not–and is not–without risk. But so far, it has been 100% worth it.

What hard things do you want to do? Or are terrified to do? Need to do in order to continue growing?

What are your core values? Are you living by them? Do they influence your decisions? Are you living your purpose–or someone else’s?
